Welcome to the newest member of the Talent Business Alliance team!
Cecelia’s journey to Talent Business Alliance is rooted in her deep passion for supporting small business owners and a strong appreciation for their vital role in enhancing the vibrancy of downtowns across America. Growing up in Berea, Kentucky—the Folk Arts & Crafts Capital—she was surrounded by the creativity and dedication of local artisans, musicians, and entrepreneurs. These early interactions shaped her understanding of how small businesses enrich the community and foster connections among residents and visitors alike.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Environmental Studies from the College of Wooster, where she actively engaged in multiple organizations focused on supporting local businesses. As a board member of the Wooster Volunteer Network and a Community Engagement and Enhancement Assistant, Cecelia worked on initiatives that promote community involvement and local entrepreneurship.
In homage to her Appalachian roots and feminist values, Cecelia produced a senior thesis podcast titled “Women of Appalachian: Common Ground, Different Matriarch.” Through this project, she highlighted the multifaceted contributions of female educators, healthcare workers, and business owners in the Appalachian region, showcasing their vital impact on their communities.
After college, she worked as the Community Life and Wellness Coordinator at Mayflower Retirement Community in Grinnell, Iowa, where she organized intellectually stimulating activities for residents, integrating the local business community into these initiatives. She also taught yoga and became a Tai Chi instructor during her time at Mayflower.
Now a RARE (Resource Assistance for Rural Environments) AmeriCorps Member, Cecelia is working with Talent Business Alliance as the Destination and Tourism Strategic Planner. In this role, she leverages her passion for supporting small businesses and enhancing community vibrancy to develop strategies that promote local tourism and economic growth. Cecelia looks forward to meeting you and hearing your thoughts on this initiative.
